January
- Spring Semester started. Ended up taking 6 classes (mostly studios and labs since I picked up a minor), which was honestly kinda miserable.
- Got into Dungeon Meshi. Watched the first two episodes, then demolished the entire manga over the course of a weekend. I really like Izutsumi she's silly
- Applied to a job on campus and never heard back :(
February
- New IDKHOW album came out, and it was the only thing I listened to for a few weeks.
- Taught myself how to knit and proceeded to knit half of a scarf over the course of ten days for a graphic design class assignment. Don't ask how this correlates to graphic design.
March
- Turned 22.
- Worked on Rain World Art Month. Didn't finish all the prompts because I got occupied with a project for one of the graphic design classes I was taking. Planning to finish some of the leftover sketches at some point.
- The graphic design project in question was actually a little comic zine. I had to get all of the main content in it done over a weekend, though, which absolutely wrecked my wrist for a little while— I sketched and inked every strip by hand, then had to scan them and throw them into photoshop to clean them up and add halftones. I might share it at some point.
- A.B.A got announced for Guilty Gear Strive. She's my new main, much to the dismay of my friends.
April
- Went to a student-run convention on campus. Entered a Mario Kart tournament. Did not make it out of pools. They will not call me the Drift King during college.
- Made a zine about basic HTML and CSS as the final project for one of my classes. I guess this site paid off?
- 100%ed Donkey Kong Country Returns instead of working on other final projects.
May
- Spring Semester ended. Finished all my finals on time.
- Read through Oyasumi Punpun for the first time. It felt like a car crash I couldn't look away from. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
June
- Went to a barcade for the first time with a few friends. I don't drink, so I just played Tetris in the corner. I ranked 7th place on the high score list.
- Got the plush of Looks to the Moon from Rain World. Really happy about it.
- Gaming laptop shat itself and I had to get a new one. Coincidentally, this happened the day after I pirated The Prince of Egypt. I had adblockers and didn't even download anything, but...
- Tried messing around with the Rain World level editor in hopes of making mods some day. Didn't get too much done, but made a playable room and managed to get it into the game without it crashing.
July
- Took a photography class. Took lots of pictures of ducks.
- Impulse bought a watermelon from the local market and hauled it onto the bus back to my apartment. Took several days to finish it all.
- Meant to participate in Artfight, but only got a few attacks done before getting burnt out and getting too occupied with photo assignments.
- Started using Spore's online features again, which I don't think I've done since maybe sophomore year of high school? Made a stupid Free Willy parody in the Adventure Creator, among other things.
August
- Fall semester started. I'm only taking four classes (and one is completely online) so I'm hoping I'll have more free time to work on my own things.
- Got my first arcade stick!! I only paid 20 bucks for it because I traded in most of my old Pokemon cards. I'm gonna have to relearn the danzai input, though...
- Been getting really into Gorillaz.
- Got into Ultrakill again because my friends who haven't played it were curious about it and wanted me to stream it on call. P-Ranked all of Act 1 and fought Minos Prime.
- Applied for more jobs. Crossing my fingers!
September
- Planning to get back into watercolor painting when I get the free time. I have some leftover paper that I'm excited to finally get around to using.
- Got sick :( but I got better after a few days. Drank lots of hot tea and took some time to myself.
- Went on a little field trip to a local farm! I caught a grasshopper and also got some free carrots to take home. Waiting at the bus stop while just holding those carrots in my hand was kinda funny.
October
- Things have gotten a little rough, but I managed to get through the worst of it mostly unscathed. It's gonna get better eventually I'm sure ^^;
- Picked up Zoo Tycoon 2 again. My challenge mode zoo was going super well, but the game crashed in the middle of saving it, which ended up corrupting the save file :/ I managed to rebuild it all pretty fast though!
- Replayed Banjo Kazooie for the first time in a while. Died 20 times in the Rusty Bucket Bay engine room
- I haven't done anything with the site in a minute and I feel a little funny about it. I think I got a little burnt out from coding because of one of the classes I'm taking—It's a graphic design class focused on interactivity, and the entire first half of it was about HTML. Most of it was stuff I already knew how to do (thanks, Neocities!), but it also went into CSS grid and media queries, which I didn't know how to use until now. Wrangling the mobile layout for our site project did drive me a little nuts, though (most of it was refitting my coding to match the professor's example so that the JS he provided worked). All that being said, I do want to attempt to make this site responsive at some point, but it's definitely not a high priority. I'm willing to bet that most people on Neocities do most of their browsing on a computer anyway :P
- Finally working my way through the other Jurassic Park & Jurassic World films after having only ever finished the first one. I (somehow) enjoyed JP 3 and the first World film decently enough, but everything else... hoo boy.
- Also I'm sick again FML
- Got better. Halloween went pretty good :) I wanted to be Gaster but I didn't have time to put a costume together, so I just half-dressed up as Sans.
November
- Got pretty stressed out over registering for classes, but I managed to get into basically everything I needed.
- The semester is ending super soon and it feels so weird like not much has happened at all. I haven't really had a lot to say here lately, mainly just because most of what I've been doing has been working on the final projects for my classes. I'm looking forward to having more free time to work on my own art when I'm done with everything, though. I miss drawing Rain World stuff...
- Weirdly enough, I'm on a Planet Zoo kick again. I don't like Planet Zoo as much as the Zoo Tycoon games because of the sheer amount of micromanagement that's involved, but it's fun to watch realistic okapi running around.
- Thanksgiving break's been pretty uneventful.
December
- Wow, end of the year already?? Feels like it went so slow yet so fast. I'm pretty happy with the state of the website at the moment. I think I got a lot done with it this year.
- Working on Spore adventures again, finished and released a Christmas themed one. Also doing some work on a site section that'll be about Spore :)
- Officially finished with all my final projects! I still have the critiques to do, but at least the worst of it's out of the way.
- Finals done, home for the break, things are pretty good. It feels weird to suddenly not have anything due. Holidays have been going ok, but my family didn't make any plans or decorate for Christmas, so it does feel a little weird to not be doing anything related to that when I'm seeing other people are? I'm writing this Christmas eve-eve and the most holiday-related things I've done at all this month was work on a secret santa gift and watch some holiday movies. Christmas music isn't something I really go out of my way to listen to anymore, either. When I was a kid I would listen to Christmas stuff on a local radio station during car rides, but I phased out of doing that sometime around... maybe high school? Unless it's Last Christmas by Wham. That bangs.
- Thinking about whether I'll push out one final update for the site for 2024. Not sure if I have any ideas that I'll be able to have done by the end of the year. I'm gonna have to update the copyright years once 2025 rolls around (which I've been meaning to do for a while since technically I started this site at the very tail end of 2022 and not 2023 like I thought). Not sure if I'll go out of my way to do another major layout overhaul for the new year either since I'm 95% satisfied with this current one. Maybe I'll see if I can mess around with image positioning some more.
